*Are we doing anything with what we are learning?
*We are not promised a certain amount of time…so-why are we waiting?…what if there isn’t a later! (MEASURING TAPE)

*”It’s about taking ourselves off of auto-pilot and fully engaging in everyday experiences.”
*What can you do this week to make your job, relationships, and everyday tasks more enjoyable, meaningful and fulfilling?
*Live less out of habit and more out of intent
*You have to apply what you are learning. TO LIVE ON PURPOSE AND WITH INTENTION REQUIRES ACTION…..we listen, take notes, get inspired….but, unless we do something it is like paint still in the can, a poker chip that hasn’t been cashed in or a coupon that hasn’t been used.
*We have to do something with what we have been given.
*”YOU CAN BURY YOUR EMOTIONS BUT YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE BURING SOMETHING THAT IS ALIVE.”
*We are so busy and distracted that we drown out that small voice in our head

*Story of Major James Nesmeth 18 Holes in His Mind
*Our minds are AMAZING!
*Our brains are neuroplastic…they can change and regrow
*We can undo negative thinking patterns on the deadening tree branches and regrow new branches and limbs
*When we have negative thoughts= dendrites (branches in our brain) start to die off and become sparse
*When we have positive thoughts= dendrites begin to grow
*Dr. Caroline Leaf wrote “Switch On Your Brain” https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CIUJXAS/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
*Dr. Leaf is an expert on how the mind controls the brain
*There is not one person that is exempt from the power of their thoughts
*One negative thought can lead you on a rabbit trail of negative thinking and unhealthy behavior….(Examples: OB/GYN leaves a message asking you to call as soon as possible for your results (we think–ASAP–it MUST be BAD), Your child struggles in an AP class (we think- now he won’t get into the college he wants–won’t get the job–will be living in my basement!), we look on social media and comparison overtakes your mind (we see others perfect lives and think negatively of our own) or we get a short text from a friend (we think- is she mad? she usually says more…did I do something? You get sick to your stomach because you are imagining a hard conversation!)
*Why is it that our thoughts always lead us down a negative path? When was the last time you spiraled upward?
*If you are going to create a fantasy in your mind….make it a great one!

*Thoughts are real, physical things that take up mental real estate

*What your mind creates…only your mind can take away.
*”Every action and every feeling is preceded by a thought.” -James Allen
*Our thoughts control our feelings and ultimately our behaviors.
*”If you realized HOW powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought again.” -Peace Pilgrim
*In the past they thought that the brain was a fixed and hardwired machine. This view saw the damaged brain as INCURABLE and the focus was COMPENSATION, not RESTORATION of function….now we know this is FALSE.
*The mind is designed to control the body, of which the brain is a part, not the other way around.
*When you think, choose and sort your thoughts your brain creates proteins….so, as we think and imagine…we change the structure and function of our brains.
*Negative thinking will change your brain wiring in a negative direction and throw your mind and body into stress.
*It is like what we say about parenting…We cannot control our children’s behavior–what we CAN CONTROL is our RESPONSE…in the same way…we cannot control the events and circumstances of life—but we CAN control our REACTIONS
*Everything we do is a choice.
*If you do not believe you have the power to change your thoughts and choices…you are not going to do it.
*”LET THE TRUTH SPEAK LOUDER THAN THE LIES”
*”LET THE TRUTH SPEAK LOUDER THAN THE LIES”
*you can’t think 2 thoughts at once…replace a lie with truth…replace one thought with another…we have free will to choose what we think about!
*We choose our thoughts and we choose what we do with our remaining time on earth.
*PRACTICAL PLACES TO START:
1)Take time to be still and slow down….Research shows that 5-16 min/day of focused meditative capturing of thoughts = increase in happier outlook on life
2)Pay DEEP, FOCUSED ATTENTION to one task at a time….multi-tasking is NOT something to be proud of (multi-tasking has increased by 120% in American young people in the last 10 years). Multi-tasking leads to further” hurry sickness” and obsessive time management. We sacrifice the quality of our attention. BE PRESENT WHERE YOU ARE.
*EVERY CELL IN THE BODY IS CONNECTED TO THE HEART, AND THE BRAIN CONTROLS THE HEART, AND THE MIND CONTROLS THE BRAIN. SO- WHAT WE ARE
THINKING ABOUT AFFECTS EVERY SINGLE CELL IN OUR BODY.
*We all affect each other.
*google mirror neurons
3)Be intentional in your thoughts and interactions with others
(my thoughts affect you/ your thoughts affect me)
4)Write down 3 negative thought habits that are NOT serving you well and COMMIT to CHOOSING to REPLACE them with a POSITIVE thought habit.

*As you think in your heart, so you are.
*IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE YOUR HEART IS, LOOK TO WHERE YOUR MIND GOES WHEN IT WANDERS
